Join Me As I Explore the Mississippi River
The Mississippi river cuts a deep path through our imaginations. Most of us know the river through Mark Twain and maybe through evening news reports when it floods.
The Mississippi River is far more than Mark Twain and floods, however. I've spent years getting to know this river and the people who live, work, and play along it.
While I started off writing non-fiction and travel pieces about the river, it didn't take long to figure out that this river has more stories to tell than can fit in a travel guide or a long essay.
I'm lucky that I get to share some of these stories with you, stories as they are experienced by fictional writer Frank Dodge. In his travels along the Mississippi, Dodge confronts many of the same challenges we all face: figuring out who we are and what we want, feuding with people who don't share our view of the world, and trying to hold on to those nuggets of happiness wherever they happen.
I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I do. Please let me know what you think.
